Ant Management
Spraying Makes it Worse
They go where they want to and they are everywhere. While it isn’t possible to control the invasive ants in California, it is possible to manage the population within an area. Conventional methods involve using chemical compounds that typically affect the nervous system. In large amounts this has been shown to affect humans and pets, not just insects. Some studies have shown that there are long-term effects on humans exposed to these chemicals over time, including heart disease and neurological/neurocognitive outcomes. These poisons cause colonies to split and produce more ants in response. This essentially makes the issue worse over time. Not a very smart way to deal with the situation. We focus on naturally occurring active ingredients to reduce ant populations over time without triggering a reproductive response. This method doesn’t stop trailing but will manage the colonies in your immediate area.
Strategic & Organic
Constant Management
It’s important to manage ant populations year round, not just when they become a nuisance. We focus on continuous management to consistently reduce the population.
Location Specific
Placement of abatement methods is key. That’s why we take the time to find active colonies on each property. This process ensures that the non-toxic bait goes back to the colonies.
Safe for Pollinators
Traditional poison ant sprays can kill an entire hive of bees. Our methods focus on addressing the issue without causing damage to beneficial insects.
Realistic Expectations
Management Versus Eradication
Eradication of the argentine ant is not possible or realistic. Because their colonies are interconnected, consistent population reduction is the only long-term solution.
Organic Versus Chemical
Research shows that chemical methods of management are not an effective or ethical solution. For that reason, we do not use chemical methods.
Ant Trails
Non-toxic abatement does not eliminate ant trailing. Ant trails are a fundamental activity that is not easily altered. While non-toxic methods don’t stop trailing, the fundamental problem of population does affect the intensity and quantity of trails over time. In short, only chemical neurotoxin sprays will eliminate trailing for a time if that is what a client is requesting. We recommend following some household practices that will help reduce unwanted trailing.
